Hamatobetsu is a small town in Hokkaido, Japan. It is my mom’s hometown and where my grandparents used to live.
The top layer of the dress has a light and delicate touch - resembling the delicateness of the natural environment of Hamatonbetsu, and the feeling of a breeze passing by. The underlayer recreates the scrumptious sweets from my grandfather's bakery through 3D shibori and natural dye.
