The Winter Wonderland Theater Box is an interactive space to experience the magic of a winter forest. The sliding curtain represents the shrubs and flora of the forest as a door to another realm. Inspired by various forms of theatrical storytelling, including Japanese kamishibai, puppet theater, and tunnel diorama.
All fabric pieces are woven on an eight harness floor loom and attached to a hand-crafted theater box.

Process and Inspiration
Samples for the theater curtain were woven with varying float lengths and felted by hand to achieve the texture of forest shrubs and flora. Sketches depict initial construction ideas of the theater box.
Inspired by theater sets, winter greens, and berries.
